R. Michael Allen

Mr. Allen was the Founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board of VPNet Technologies, a leading developer of virtual private networks that was sold to Avaya, Inc. (NYSE: AV) in 2001. Previously, Mr. Allen was President and CEO of Vindicator Corporation, U.S. Medical Products, Inc., SuperCads, Inc., Conetic Systems, and Trademark Software, which was acquired by Dow Jones & Company, Inc. (NYSE: DJ).

 

Prior to being an entrepreneur, Mr. Allen managed the strategy development operations of the Major Appliance Group at General Electric Company.  He also was a consultant with McKinsey & Company, Inc. He holds a J.D. and an MBA from Stanford University and a B.S. in Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  He is a member of the State Bar of Texas.  

Robert Cross

Mr. Cross is Chairman and principal of Cross Technologies Inc., a firm that specializes in re-start and turnaround assistance to middle-market and venture-backed companies. Mr. Cross has more than 25 years of CEO-level experience in rapid-growth, transition and turnaround environments. He also led the financial turnaround of Control Video Corporation (predecessor to America Online) and facilitated a spin-off to the successor new venture (AOL). 

 

Previously, Mr. Cross was General Counsel of EDS, and was a member of the White House Transition Staff following the 1968 Presidential election. Earlier, he was a corporate finance attorney with Winthrop Stimson Putnam & Roberts (now Pillsbury Winthrop). He holds active NASD registrations (Series 7, 24 and 63) and DoD and Agency clearances. He is a business and law graduate of Washington University in St. Louis (BSBA and JD), and is an active member of Business Executives for National Security, the Illinois Coalition, the Marine Corps Association, The University Club (New York) and Omicron Delta Kappa.

Richard L. Earnest

Mr. Earnest is a San Diego-based entrepreneur who has led several successful start-up and turn-around of high technology companies. He was the CEO of Peregrine Systems, where he led the successful repositioning of the company. 

Mr. Earnest also served as President of VM Software, Inc., now a division of Sterling Software, Inc. (NYSE: SSW). He grew the company from $2 million to $50 million in revenue, and completed a successful IPO. Mr. Earnest was decorated as a U.S. Navy fighter pilot during his tour of duty in Vietnam and is currently serving as the Mayor of the City of Del Mar, CA.

Ronald Galowich

Mr. Galowich is the founder and chairman of the board of directors of Initiate Systems, Inc., where he served as CEO from 1996 to 2002. He has previously launched a number of successful entrepreneurial businesses, including First Health Group Corp., NASDAQ: FHCC. Mr. Galowich continues as a board member and chairman of the Compensation Committee for this national managed care company.

 

Previously, Mr. Galowich was director of real estate operations for the Pritzker family interests, and president of numerous Pritzker-related real estate companies, including certain subsidiaries of The Marmon Group. His duties included assisting in the non-hotel real estate operations of Hyatt Hotels Co, a Pritzker entity. His extensive business and real estate accomplishments include evaluation, development, management, operation and disposition of a diversified major real estate portfolio. Additionally, he is chairman of Madison Group Holdings, Inc. and Madison Realty Group, Inc. Earlier, he actively practiced law in the fields of business, acquisition and development, and real estate transactions.

Jimmy Hsu

Mr. Hsu is the CEO of TIF Ventures in Singapore. Before this, he was the Senior Vice President from GIC Special Investments Pte Ltd responsible for co-managing the TIF fund with NSTB, a branch of the Singapore government. He joined GIC, responsible for investing Singapore’s foreign reserve, in 1986, and was soon posted to San Francisco as part of a team to manage U.S. private equity investments, where he established a strong network with the US venture and buyout community. In 1990, he was posted to London to start the Department's European operations. He returned to Singapore in 1994 to head up its N.E. Asian operations in private equity funds and co-investments before being tasked to co-manage the TIF Fund with NSTB.

 

Prior to joining GIC, he was with British Petroleum in Singapore, Australia and London and worked in corporate and strategic planning. Earlier he worked at the  Economic Development Board of Singapore, responsible for investment promotion and project appraisal. Mr. Hsu has a B.Eng. with first class honors from University of Alberta, Canada. He also obtained an MBA from the National University of Singapore. He is a qualified Chartered Financial Analyst with the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts, U.S.A.

Leonard Kleinrock

Dr. Kleinrock is known as one of the inventors of Internet Technology, having created the basic principles of packet switching, the technology underpinning the Internet, while a graduate student at MIT. This was a decade before the birth of the Internet, which occurred when his Host computer at UCLA became the first node of the Internet in September 1969. He wrote the first paper and published the first book on the subject; he also directed the transmission of the first message ever to pass over the Internet.

Dr. Kleinrock is the founder and Chairman of Nomadix, Inc. and the Technology Transfer Institute. Both technology firms are based in Santa Monica, CA. He is a Professor of Computer Science at UCLA. He joined the UCLA faculty in 1963 and his research interests focus on performance evaluation and design of many kinds of computer networks. He has had over 200 papers published, is the author of six books, and the winner of many international scientific honors and awards.
